Makarska has long been the center of the Makarska Riviera administrative, political, economic, cultural and
educational, and from the middle of the 20th century and tourist. Today it is a city with more than 15 thousand inhabitants to whom
belong to the picturesque settlements under Biokovo, Veliko Brdo, Puhari\u0107i, Koti\u0161ina and Makar from which
the name Makarska.
Makarska is one of the most famous tourist destinations on the Croatian coast, attractive for its and
natural and climatic characteristics, diverse tourist offer and hospitable hosts.
Sandy and pebble beach, it is almost 2 km long and it was, and still is recognizable today. Along the promenades
bordered by pine trees there are various tourist facilities, comfortable hotels, restaurants with
gastronomic specialties, and plenty of fun for children and adults.
Makarska is located at the foot of the mountain massif Biokovo (1762 m), which protects against intrusion
continental climate and has lush Mediterranean vegetation, mild winters, long and warm summers with
a refreshing mistral.

Nature Park Biokovo<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Biokovo Nature Park is the most dominating presence on the southern Dalmatian coast. Proclaimed a nature park in 1981, this mountain rampart towers a good 1500 meters over the Makarska Riviera and offers exceptional views over the sea and nearby islands. It is one of Croatia\u2019s most popular destinations for hikers with myriad paths that wind up the hills past olive groves, vineyards and pine forests. The Biokovo massif that stretches 36 kilometers along the coast and nine kilometers inland drops down in a series of craggy limestone rocks and sheer cliffs interspersed with caves, pits and sinkholes. The most popular hiking and mountaineering destination is Vosac (1421 meters).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Biokovo Skywalk<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Walk through the skies and get incredible views on Biokovo this summer. Biokovo lends the Makarska Riviera the interplay of blue sea, sky and white stone that creates such a wonderful stage for those carefree seaside summers. However, the\u00a0Biokovo<\/strong>\u00a0Nature Park<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>hides within it a wealth of natural and cultural treasures. A wonderful new viewing platform allowing you to experience the majesty of Biokovo was opened in July 2020 \u2013 the Skywalk. Ka\u010di\u0107 Square<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the center of the city, on the largest city square, there is a monument to Andrija Ka\u010di\u0107 Mio\u0161i\u0107 (the work of Ivan Rendi\u0107), erected in 1890.
On Ka\u010di\u0107 Square, between the monument and the church, there is also a Venetian fountain from 1775, when the city received drinking water, on which a ban on washing goods and feeding cattle was engraved.The statue was erected in 1890. The costs of making the statue were paid by donations from the people all over Croatia, and on the day of the unveiling ceremony, many came to Makarska to attend the big event. The constituent part of the statue was a mosaic in the shape of a kilim, depicting the coat-of-arms of all the countries mentioned by Ka\u010di\u0107 in his \u201cPismarica\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
